Archbishop Hannan girls soccer preparing for season
October 1, 2019
The coaches and players of Archbishop Hannan’s soccer team have many goals for this year’s season. After losing valuable players, the fans can’t wait to see how this affects the season.
“I want to win district. I want to make it deep into the playoffs, and I believe we have a chance to go to the finals, but I at least want to be in the discussion in the final four teams”. Coach Chad said.
Everyone including the coaches, players, parents, and fans want to see this year’s team succeed. There is noticeable talent coming from the girls soccer team and everyone wants to see the progress they can make throughout the year. The difference between this year’s team and last year’s team is the five seniors that they lost. Some people are concerned while others don’t think there is anything to worry about.
“We did lose five seniors, but we actually have seven or eight seniors this year. So, I think we also have a bunch of juniors, so I think were actually positioned to do very well to go all the way in our division. We have a lot of players that have been in my system their entire time at Hannan and I think are potential is way up there because we have quality talent, and experienced talent in the right places”. Coach Chad said.
Concerns regarding the players have to do with positioning. The two goalies from last year were seniors who are now graduated. There may or may not be someone to fill their position this year.
“We always had the luxury of a very good keeper. An experienced keeper whether it was Sarah Dufour or Mikayla Boyer, and for the first time we are going to have to have a keeper that’s not nearly as experienced as one of those two players were. So were going to need someone to step up. And other players need to step up because we’re going to have to play better defense. And obviously were going to need a lot more offense so that there’s not as much pressure on whoever falls into that goalie spot”. Coach Chad said.
Patricia Tassin, forward player on varsity, also had a statement on the goalie situation for this year’s team.
“I think we’re going to struggle finding a keeper but other than that I think our starting lineup is pretty good and we have a decent chance of going to the playoffs”. Patricia said.
