Archbishop Hannan Softball Takes Part in John Curtis High Tournament
March 22, 2019
This past weekend the Lady Hawks Softball team, went 1-2 at the John Curtis Tournament, in River Ridge, Louisiana.
The Lady Hawks were defeated by Parkview Baptist High School and John Curtis Christian School, but were able to produce a win against St. Thomas More High School.
Over the weekend, Parkview Baptist was ranked number one, Archbishop Hannan was number two, and St. Thomas More was number three. Even though Hannan was playing the two toughest teams in their division, and went 1-1 in the end against them, they came out of the weekend with a good mind-set on how to improve on their skills.
“After the games this weekend, I believe it opened everyone’s eyes on what kind of talent our team has,” said Junior catcher Gentry Spinks. “Playing the number one seed on Saturday was a blast even though we lost. We got the mind-set of how those teams will be in the future when we see them again later in the year.”
Even though the lady hawks took more losses than wins this weekend, they still believe their performance on the field was overall good.
Freshman pitcher Amelia Mares said, “I believe the team performed overall pretty well this weekend. Of course we had our bumps and our mistakes, but that is a part of the game and we need to learn from them.”
After this weekend, the lady hawks are ready to prepare for the end of their season and work on their fundamental and communication skills as a team.
Spinks said, “If our team comes together and everyone plays their heart out for each in every play and at bat, our team will take a win in the end because of our talent and hard work.”
