Young Hawks succeeding on the wrestling mat
January 26, 2018
The Hawks wrestling team has had a successful season so far.
With State coming up, the team is going harder at practice and focusing more for the upcoming tournaments.
Coach Jay Faucheux said that he thinks the team has had incredible improvements. Of the 14 players on varsity, the team has no seniors.
“The great thing about us is that we have no seniors on this team, so we are just getting better and better,” Faucheux said. “Twenty guys joined the team from football this past year who have never wrestled before and I think we’re going to have a very very strong showing in state.
Junior, Evan Brouillette said the the team is a lot bigger than last years team and that since the beginning of the year, the team has gotten more physical.
Junior, Deno Talbot said, “We can stand on our own or beat teams that we weren’t able to beat last year and technically we are way better off than we were at the end of last year.”
The team is has not only gotten better throughout the season both as a team and on the mats.
Talbot said, “I think we will do fantastic, as long as we keep the momentum going that we built up in the past few tournaments going.”
