Juniors Surprise Seniors at Powderpuff Game
October 18, 2017
The junior versus senior powderpuff game took place during homecoming week and the juniors surprised the seniors with a few impressive plays.
For the first time in a few years, the juniors won the powderpuff game. They were very well prepared and knew what to do when on the field. The juniors had practiced for a total of four hours.
“Being a part of the game was so much fun because I got to work together with the other girls in my grade. It is an experience that I will remember forever.” said Sarah Dufour, junior quarterback.
Dufour was the junior quarterback and Lauren Distefano was the senior quarterback. Sarah, along with her team, were happy with the outcome and were proud of the team.
“We went into the game preparing for a loss to the seniors, so when we won, we were incredibly excited,” said Dufour.
The Powderpuff game was the first big event of homecoming week, so that determined how the student body participated and reacted to the rest of the week, Dufour said.
“The atmosphere of the game got many students excited for the parade, pep rally, bonfire and dance,” Dufour said.
The rivalry between the juniors and the seniors tied together homecoming week with the game. The friendly competition, that got a little unfriendly toward the end, brought the whole school together.
“Powderpuff allowed the juniors and seniors to have a healthy competition and rivalries, which made the game so much more fun. After the game was over, it felt like my grade had been brought closer together because of the win,” Dufour said.
